Striae - A Growing Nuisance.
Many of people all over the world suffer from strech marks. Both men and women will find them appearing after periods of rapid growth such as puberty. Women, as is often the case, suffer with them post pregnancy.
They occur as our skin tries to keep up with the rate of growth in the bones, muscles or, in the case of pregnancy, child. Invariably though, it fails to do so and tiny splits form in the second layer of skin, referred to as the Dermis. These tears show as red streaks at first and change over time to a silvery colour.
The stretch marks are actually pockets of skin with lower levels of collagen. As the dermis is ripped in two during the growth phase, it fails to restore itself so that it looks like its former state. Of course, it is only a cosmetic concern as there is practically no medical downside to having these marks, the cosmetic concerns, however, are great. They make you feel self concious in front of people and don't look very nice.
Removing stretch marks involves increasing the collagen levels within the Dermis layer of skin. This is most effectively achieved by enhancing your own physical natural ability to generate collagen as opposed to introducing it from external sources. The most common way of doing this is Microneedling with Derma rollers as an effective collagen induction therapy.
The other additional advantage of this type of treatment, is the way in which it boosts the effectiveness of oils and creams, such as the commonly used bio oil. It gives these lotions the opportunity to permeate the upper levels of skin to a far greater degree providing a much enhanced result.
As with anything involving health and wellbeing, it is vital to do your research and consult your doctor before beginning or using any product or treatment.
